In a continued effort towards sustainability, the renowned Hedonism II, all-inclusive resort, has forged a partnership with local pig farmers as part of its ambitious greening initiative. This collaboration not only addresses food waste management but also enhances the resort’s commitment to environmental responsibility while supporting the local economy.
Each day, the resort collects food waste from its kitchens and dining areas, diverting it from the main landfill in Montego Bay and instead redirecting it to local pig farmers. This initiative provides a vital resource for the farmers, who use the waste as feed for their pigs. By doing so, Hedonism II is not only reducing its ecological footprint but also promoting a circular economy where resources are reused and repurposed.
In a mutually beneficial arrangement, Hedonism II purchases pork from these pig farmers and the pig farmers donate pigs to Hedonism II for special staff events throughout the year.
We are thrilled to partner with local pig farmers as this initiative reflects our commitment to not only providing an unforgettable experience for our guests but also to promoting sustainability and supporting our local community.
Visitors to the resort should appreciate the effort to minimize waste and support local agriculture, while farmers benefit from a consistent and reliable source of feed for their livestock. This partnership is a perfect example of how businesses can work hand-in-hand with local communities to create a positive impact.
As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, Hedonism II plans to expand its greening initiatives in the future, including more partnerships with local producers and efforts to reduce water usage and energy consumption.
With this approach, Hedonism II not only enhances its guest experience but also fosters a sense of community and environmental stewardship. As the resort continues to evolve, it remains dedicated to creating a greener future for Jamaica and its visitors.
