Hedonism II Foundation Featured in The Gleaner

In most places Halloween is usually a time for celebration, however in Jamaica, particularly the southern coast of the island, including Westmoreland, Halloween of 2025 was anything but spooky fun. The island was ravaged by Hurricane Melissa just days before and continues to rebuild to this day. In honor of the country’s National Children’s Day, on Friday, May 15, 2026, The Hedonism II Foundation, powered by outreach manager Fiona McGrowder, partnered with the Sir Clifford Campbell Primary School in Savanna la Mar, the capital of the Westmoreland parish on the Southwest coast.

“A lot of the students are from communities and homes affected by Hurricane Melissa. Some of these students were displaced, and most of them are still processing the after effects of the hurricane.” McGrowder, explains.

In addition to the school supplies and tablets the foundation donated, there was an outpouring of support from guests who have been frequenting the resort for decades. Over 300 students participated in the day’s activities, hosted in collaboration with Nicola McIntyre, the parish’s National Council on Drug Abuse prevention officer, highlighting the community involvement. McIntyre expressed the importance of taking care of the children who will carry the country into the future. One activity that brightened many little faces included reading positive affirmations from stickers in the school supplies that were donated. This act of kindness was reflected long after the day was done according to the school’s principal Natalie Hamilton.

The Hedonism II foundation continues to find ways to contribute to the restoration of its vibrant community. If you feel moved to support these initiatives please visit https://hedocares.org/ to learn more about volunteer work and how to donate.
