Meet the Manager on Duty: Fiona Blake

If you’ve been around the resort after 2:30 p.m., chances are you’ve seen Fiona Blake confidently making her rounds, checking in with departments, assisting guests, and ensuring that every aspect of the operation runs smoothly. As our dedicated Manager on Duty (MOD), Fiona is a familiar face whose calm presence and commitment to excellence help create the exceptional guest experiences Hedonism II is known for.

Originally from the beautiful Garden Parish of St. Ann, Fiona always envisioned a career in hospitality. Today, she is living that dream, but her journey to becoming a Manager on Duty has been one of growth, determination, and continuous learning.

Fiona joined Hedonism II in June 2013 after leaving Hedonism III. She began her career in Housekeeping as the Public Area Supervisor, where she developed a keen eye for detail. Eager to broaden her experience, she later transitioned into a guest-facing role as Spa Receptionist, allowing her to build stronger relationships with guests and further develop her customer service skills.

In 2017, Fiona made what she describes as a bold career move by accepting the role of Manager- on-Duty. While stepping into the position came with its share of uncertainty, she embraced the challenge with determination and a willingness to learn. “I was placed on the MOD roster and honestly didn’t know what to do,” Fiona recalls with a smile. “But I was determined to learn—and that’s exactly what I did.”

Nearly a decade later, she still finds the role exciting and rewarding. Every day presents a new opportunity to resolve challenges, make decisions, and ensure guests leave with positive memories.

“What I love most about being an MOD is that it has taught me how to handle situations, find the best solutions, and follow through until the issue is completely resolved,” she says. “I don’t leave until the guest is satisfied. It’s a win-win for everyone.”

Fiona’s leadership extends far beyond solving guest concerns. She believes in encouraging and developing others, especially those just beginning their careers. Recently, during a particularly busy checkout day, Fiona noticed a young housekeeper who seemed overwhelmed by the workload. She took a moment to speak with her, sharing her own story of starting in Housekeeping before working her way into leadership. “I told her I started exactly where she is,” Fiona says. “What you’re going through today is just part of your journey. Don’t be afraid of the challenges—they’re preparing you for what’s ahead.” It’s advice that Fiona herself has lived by throughout her career.

If she could speak to her younger self, her message would be simple: “Don’t worry. Learn from your mistakes, and you will succeed.”

When she’s not ensuring the smooth operation of the resort, Fiona enjoys relaxing on the beach and meeting new people, something that perfectly reflects her warm and approachable personality.

Looking ahead, Fiona hopes that the next five years will bring new opportunities and fresh challenges as she continues to grow both personally and professionally.

From Housekeeping to the Manager on Duty team, Fiona Blake’s journey is a reminder that every role matters, every challenge is an opportunity to learn, and with determination, growth is always possible. Her commitment to our guests, and her unwavering dedication make her an invaluable member of the Hedonism II family.
